I visited the photographer’s gallery and they had many photographic archives on display. I was very intrigued viewing the images on display and a majority of them were in black and white therefore, when I got to the 4th floor I saw organic photographs by Batia Suter and as I walked further in, on the walls contained a burst of colour and geometric photographs and I think that was my favourite work in the gallery. I believe it was by Rafal Milach, this work help informed me take coloured photographs as it is exciting to view which I would like viewers to feel when they look at my photographs. Somehow it feels different to see the work in a gallery setting because the photographs are positioned in an order it makes my body move slowly across the room and I feel very absorbed into the work on display, it somehow feels 3D as it is not in a computer screen it’s simply just on the wall infront of me. Rafal Milach's work has influenced me by his use of bright, block colours in his photographs and his well thought out composition - it really stood out to me therefore, I was thinking I could add some colour into my multiple exposure images; I can draw lines onto my photograph based on what my eye can see in the image, similar to Henri Cartier-bressons rule of thirds and lines, then I can add a light toned colour to the line for it to stand out possibly.
Marion Goodman Gallery
I visited the Marion Goodman Gallery and they exhibited Christian Boltanski's "Éphémères" installation. I enjoyed this exhibition the most because Boltanski's photographs were exhibited in a very creative, mysterious and interesting way. In my opinion Christian Boltanski's photographs did not influence me a lot. However, on the fabric material there were more images, it wasn't very clear which is why I did not feel heavily influenced in his photography but on his sculpture and film - it created a very exciting and interesting moment. Viewing Christian Boltanski's in a the gallery is very different because he created 3D sculptures and added audio and film to his installations, it enhanced and extended his work out to viewers which creates an atmosphere compared to viewing the work from your computer. In my opinion I think it is important to view some photography in a gallery because for some photographs its details and subject could stand out more to viewers if it was exhibited and it could be easier for the photographer's viewers to feel exactly how the photographer intended them to.
